Photography Website Design Quotes: What to Compare

Compare photography website quotes by galleries, films, copy, editing, migration and enquiry testing. Prepare a clear studio website brief with ARKIELLO.

Planning diagram: portfolio scope, editing ownership, launch checks

A photography website quote becomes useful when it explains what your studio will receive and how the finished site will be checked. A page count alone leaves too many questions about portfolios, films, copy, enquiries and future editing.

Use this guide alongside our photography and videography website design and SEO guide to prepare a brief and compare proposals against the same requirements.

Start with the booking journey

Tell each provider which work you want more of: weddings, commercial productions, family sessions or another service you genuinely offer. Explain what a visitor needs to understand before making an enquiry.

A proposal should connect its pages and features to that journey. Does it include separate service pages, selected project stories and a working enquiry form? Who writes the copy? Who chooses the photographs? A polished homepage cannot answer those questions for the whole site.

For the earlier planning decisions, read how to structure a photography portfolio website and how to present your photography service prices.

Define the portfolio workload

“Portfolio setup included” can mean anything from uploading ten supplied images to organising years of work. Ask the provider to describe the actual allowance.

Specify:

  • The number of selected galleries or project stories to launch.
  • Whether you supply final selections or need help curating them.
  • Who prepares image sizes, filenames, captions and useful alternative text.
  • Whether existing client galleries remain in their current delivery system.
  • Who checks permission to publish photographs, client names and film clips.

Your public portfolio and a private client-delivery library serve different purposes. Putting every delivered photograph into the website build can create unnecessary migration work and make selection harder. Agree on the launch collection before comparing prices.

Separate film presentation from film hosting

For a photo and video studio, “video included” needs its own definition. A homepage background clip, an embedded showreel and a dedicated film page are different deliverables.

Ask where films will be hosted, who owns that account, and whether the quote includes subscription fees. Confirm how embeds behave on phones, what appears before playback and how visitors move from a film to the relevant service or enquiry.

If individual films need their own watch pages, specify the films, supporting descriptions and navigation. Do not assume that pasting a showreel into the homepage includes a searchable film library or any particular search appearance.

Compare the content and platform decisions

A studio that regularly publishes wedding stories has different editing needs from one that updates a small commercial portfolio a few times a year. Ask to see how routine changes will work on the proposed platform.

Clarify ownership and access to the domain, hosting, website account and supplied assets. Identify any paid themes, plugins, fonts or integrations, including who holds each licence and what happens if the working relationship ends.

The proposal should also say who writes service descriptions, prepares project stories and supplies the policies. If those items depend on you, they belong in the brief and completion checklist. They should not remain hidden assumptions.

Protect the existing website and enquiry process

If your studio already has a website, the replacement needs a migration scope. Ask whether the provider will inventory useful existing URLs, map changed addresses and implement redirects. Our guide to 301 redirects during a website redesign explains what that planning involves.

Enquiries deserve the same attention. Specify the required fields, receiving inbox, confirmation message and any connection to a CRM or studio-management tool. Confirm whether that connection is included, separately priced or outside scope.

Ask how delivery will be tested before launch. A visible success message is only one part of the journey; your team also needs to receive enough information to respond.

Ask for review points and completion criteria

A useful quote describes the review process, included revisions and the conditions for launch. It also distinguishes correction of an agreed requirement from a new request.

Your completion checklist might include approved pages and galleries, working mobile layouts, tested enquiries, correct redirects, editing access and an agreed handover. Confirm what ongoing maintenance covers, what it excludes and which subscriptions continue after launch.

Request evidence you can assess. Our Shuttersteve migration case study describes a review-preview stage. The MCT Productions project is in development with a public preview. Those stages help explain the work presented; they are not evidence of completed launch results.

Send one brief to every provider

Give providers the same service priorities, launch collection and technical requirements. Then compare what each includes, the assumptions behind it and the responsibilities left with your studio. For an existing site, our website redesign service can begin with those practical questions.
