The brief
Premium, elegant, and nothing lost.
The couple wanted a site that feels as considered as their work, without losing the pages, galleries and posts that already bring in enquiries. The new design leads with Steve’s own photography; the migration carries over every page, post and image.

The migration
Everything carried across.
Full inventory
50 live URLs mapped before any design work: 28 pages, including 19 venue galleries, and 21 blog posts.
Images
2,173 original photos optimized to WebP in several sizes, with responsive loading so phones download only what they need.
Films
23 wedding films carried over from Vimeo and YouTube.
Blog structure
16 overlapping categories consolidated into 6, and duplicate tag archives kept out of search.
Redirects
Old addresses mapped to their new homes, including the duplicate /home page, so links and rankings carry over.
Enquiries
A new availability form that sends straight to the studio’s inbox.
Design
Noir editorial, built around the photos.
Dark, editorial layouts let the mountain light in the photographs do the work. Venue galleries are grouped by region so couples can find weddings near the place they are planning.

Typography
Fraunces headlines with Hanken Grotesk body text, self-hosted for speed and privacy.
Colour
A night-black base with a deep garnet accent and soft blush highlights.
Logo
The triangle S mark redrawn as a clean vector in the new colourway.
Custom theme
A WordPress block theme built for this site, with no page builder.
SEO fixes
Problems found on the old site.
The audit turned up issues that were quietly holding the site back. Each one is fixed in the new build.
Generic page titles
Almost every page showed the same title in search results, even though page-specific titles had been written. The new site uses them, shortened to fit.
Business details in structured data
The local business markup listed the wrong website name. It now matches the business.
Duplicate pages
A duplicate copy of the homepage is now a permanent redirect.
Thin tag archives
Around 140 tag pages, many differing only by capital letters, are kept out of search and point to the blog.
Preview results
Measured, not promised.
Google Lighthouse lab scores on the review preview, October 2026. Search results will be reported after launch, once there is real data.
